Seven gentle questions, one style
to try first.

No wine knowledge needed. Tell us what you like to eat and drink, and we will suggest where to begin. The approach is inspired by palate-mapping techniques used in introductory wine education.

About the questionnaire

How it works and what to do with the result.

How does the questionnaire work?
Seven questions ask about everyday preferences — coffee, fruit, texture, food — and map your answers to a wine style profile. Each answer adds points to one or more of seven styles. The style with the highest score is suggested first, with two runners-up. The method is inspired by the palate-mapping approach used in introductory wine education at organisations like WSET.
What are the seven wine styles?
The seven styles are: Crisp Dry White, Aromatic White, Rosé, Light Fruity Red, Medium Red, Full Bold Red, and Sweet or Fortified. They cover the main profiles you will encounter in a wine shop or on a restaurant list. For a full description of each, see the guides.
Are my answers stored?
No. The questionnaire runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are held in memory while you complete it and are gone when you leave or refresh the page. Nothing is sent to any server. See our About page for the full privacy commitment.
What if the suggested style does not sound like me?
Use it as a starting point, not a verdict. Wine preference is personal and context-dependent. The result shows your closest match based on your answers, but the two runners-up are often equally worth trying. Take the questionnaire again and change any answer you are unsure about.
Where can I buy the style that was suggested?
WineTheGuide does not sell wine and does not recommend specific producers or retailers. For finding wines by style, try retailers like Majestic, The Drinks Farm, or your local independent wine merchant. The Wine-Searcher tool lets you search by grape, region and style globally.
i.

Everyday questions. About coffee, fruit and dinner, not about wine.

ii.

Nothing is stored. Your answers stay in your browser and vanish when you leave.

iii.

A style, not a brand. We suggest a kind of wine and never a particular producer.
